My husband is now home, and has suddenly taken a distaste to our very small home.... I was the one always complaining about it before (I had bought it for just my oldest and I), and now he sees how a 2-3 person home (2 bedrooms) is actually not working out so well for us and baby and dog.
It took him being back home for 2 months and coming back to actually notice this I guess.
With this it has brought back my thoughts of the "dream home" I'd eventually like to have built/build ourselves for us.
I've always wanted to have my own home built from the ground up. On a piece of property that had some sort of water source attached to it, ocean, river or stream (No lakes.... they've always been "dirty" to me). In high school I sketched out my "dream home" Over the years it has expanded to include children and many new ailments that I have grown to love while moving throughout the country. Wrap around porch with a screened in porch in the back, large play room for the kids, game room with pool table and bar, master bedroom with a sitting area and walk-in closet, bathroom with natural stone rainfall shower, textured glass around the front door and in the bathrooms, large kitchen with middle island, fireplace in living room (maybe in master bedroom too), wine room, outdoor grill/kitchen station, natural rock pool in the back yard, 3-4 car garage to work on my dream cars (67 Chevelle & 71 Chevelle). I had some interior design books for well over a decade, DIY books to do a lot of the work ourselves (which we've done in our current home), and landscaping books to piece together parts that I love.

Of
course over the years the internet has been a huge help as well with a
photo file dedicated to ideas and likes, and HGTV and the DIY channels
are on our TV several times throughout the week. Some day when the life
of moving every few years has come to an end, I dream of that perfect
location that we can settle down and retire in.
What would you have in your dream home?
What would you have in your dream home?
These
are only a few of the things I have in mind, and of course this is a
dream home. The following pictures each have a certain aspect within
them that I would love to add to my own home someday.
I love all your ideas for a dream home. Everything that I wanted in a home we got when we bought ours. I would love a house on a beach somewhere. :)

Love your ideas for your dream home! Especially rainfall shower. I like the idea of being by a body of water. Stunning. Hope your day is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThose basements/game rooms are awesome. I can't wait until we are done with the military and can settle in one place and build our dream home!
