1st Beachbody Challenge Complete!

I AM BELOW MY PRE-PREGANANCY WEIGHT!!!! WAHOOO!

So last month I started a Beachbody Challenge doing the workout program HipHop for Abs that included the shakeology program. I chose their new Tropical Strawberry Vegan mixture as opposed to their Chocolate one because, in all honesty, I have to be in the "mood" for that much Chocolate. But when it comes to fruity tastes I can devour it without a second thought! Prior to starting the challenge I was stuck in a rut with getting my weight down. I was stuck anywhere between 148 and 151. I was taking in unneeded calories... Cookies became my enemy, eating an entire bag of chocolate chip cookies and milk every two days.... No wonder Santa has a belly on him! ;) So I began this challenge hoping to lose some weight. Boy has it provided me with so much more than just weight loss! When I first started the program I was hurting, E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E! I'd make it through the workouts without stopping but I'd feel like I was literally dying. Mind you, I have not TRULY worked out since 2002, Marine Corps boot camp! I'd do a little here and there that might have lasted a week MAYBE 2 weeks and then I'd be done, give up, stop eating all together, thrive off of coffee and cigarettes and lose weight in an unhealthy manner. Most workout programs give you a diet menu, showing you what to eat, when to eat it, how much and so on. Beachbody programs do as well. However, I did not follow it to a T. I did have my 3 meals a day, most days, with one being a yummy shake. I never binged on food, I just didn't snack in between meals and such because I wasn't really hungry. If and when I did get hungry I'd drink water, grab some fruit or salad or nuts and enjoy.

It is 2 days short of 4 months from having my handsome baby boy. He was delivered via c-section which caused me to hold off on attempting to lose weight for a month. But on May 5th I couldn't stand it anymore and I started doing various "non-rigorous" workouts. After having baby I weighed a whopping 165lbs. The day I had him I believe I weighed in at 175! So worth it but as any pregnancy does, it took it's toll on my body.

I am so excited to be able to SEE the positive changes in my body, mind and lifestyle!!! Not only am I proud of myself, so is my workout guru husband! :)Looking forward to killing myself via INSANITY next!

***Motivation Monday*** Joining the Battle of the Blondes Beachbody Challenge.

So I haven't been keeping up as much as I should with my blogging.... I have a number of excuses though! Hahaha. Vacay, baby, summer break for the man-child. Keeping him entertained is a job all in itself. Right now he is resting from swimming in the grandparents pool, oh it feels good to be home! Buuuuut, I have been doing much better with working out. Being here at home with a place that has actual freaking sidewalks has given me the opportunity to walk more without having to take the baby offroading or load a vehicle to go to base to do so. Plus mom has a kick-ass ab exerciser in the back yard which means getting some sun, working out and being able to just jump in the pool and do laps when I get too hot! I am here for 16 more days and I plan on taking full advantage of it all. :) I weighed in this morning at 146lbs!!! Wahooo!!! That is 19lbs from  May 3rd to now G-O-N-E!!! Buh-bye! See ya later, don't want you back until the next baby comes along... hahaha. And 29lbs gone from April 5th, with him still in my belly. :))
Being back home has had it's disadvantages though..... In-n-Out and Legends are two of the fatty food places I have gone to, only once though!!! So far..... ;) Mom always has fresh fruits and veggies so those have been a constant snack the past couple of days that I have been here and so did my dads in NorCal. Being able to go out and about so much too and staying active has helped out too. There's just so much more to do here, especially since there are so many friends and family members within driving/walking distance!

So here's my starting pic 5/3/12 and the pic I took early this morning 6/11/12 (before all the fat had time to wake up and make my belly completely droopy... lol)

While I am only 3lbs away from pre-baby weight I am still in dyer need of toning the belly!!!! (Obviously as seen above). :)  One of my friends from back home does shakeology, and it is safe to do while breastfeeding!! AWESOME!! They are having a competition to see who's team can lose the most weight! Competition???? Me? Hell YA!!!! I'm am extremely competitive, (thanks dad), and it is exactly what I needed to get my ass into gear to send the fat to it's grave! We'll be taking the Beachbody challenge, which includes the workout program of your choice, plus shakeology! Sign me up!!!

The first pic is of Darby (a mommy of two, wife to a Navy man, and friend that lived 3 houses down when we were growing up) she will be my coach. Go team Darby! The second pic is of Jillian, she is the coach of the competition, the team that will come in second place.... hahaha While it says Battle of the Blondes, team members do not have to be blonde to join. But at least I have my summer highlights.... ;) This is going to be intense! :)

***~Motivation Monday~***

Last week was a "bad" week for me. Between me being sick as all hell and caving in to delectable temptations I did not lose any weight. This morning I weighed in at 150 flat. The fatty inside me needed cookies. Yes, chocolate chip cookies were the evil goodness that must have been laced with something addicting because I went through 2 containers of the keebler cookies and another half dozen of bakery made ones!!!! My son wanted oreos for part of his snack at school. I won’t touch oreos so I am safe there! We went grocery shopping this weekend. It took everything in me not to buy another pack! Instead I stocked up on yogurt, nuts, fresh fruits and veggies. I have 2 weeks before I go back home to see family and friends that I have not seen in 2 ½ years and I want to be able to wear my size 9 jeans. My size 9 shorts fit just fine, but my jeans need a little extra suck-in to button (not comfortable and not worth being uncomfortable over). But my size 11’s are falling off. My stomach has gone down a bit. I’d say it is mainly the swelling that has gone down and not the fat, but I’ll take what I can get right now. :)  7 more pounds to pre-prego weight. Hopefully come next week it’ll be only 6 pounds to go! Work outs get to increase this week too!!!

Goal: Healthy eating and staying on track with water consumption.
Workout Goal: 90 min of cardio.
I am 5'7 I'd like to get down to 135lbs but will be happy at 143lbs again. I was 123lbs when I first moved out here and that was just TOO skinny!

Motivation Monday!!!

The baby is out and the "leftover" weight is still there. I hit 152.8 this morning! Yay to another pound down. Water intake has increased 8-10 cups a day is what I am at now.... I hate drinking water though... Unless it is practically frozen cold! So my glass is full of ice to the brim and then topped off with water. all.... day.... long.... I think I am pee'ing more now than when I was pregnant.... I made two healthy dinners this weekend. Both of which were amazing and both of which I have posted under my Recipes tab. You won't be disappointed if you try these meals! So, it has been smaller portions, not caving in to every single "BAD" food item I can get my hands on, light cardio and walking, breastfeeding, and the motivation to get that body back I had at 17 and could squat 300lbs, run 21min 3 miles, and had a completely toned stomach.... Ok well, maybe not 17... Maybe more like 23 or 24.... Back when I weighed 120-130.... But honestly I will be happy to just lose 9 more lbs. 143, where I was when I found out we were expecting. I was happy and healthy and not stressed out. In all honesty, since moving to NC 4 years ago I have put on 20lbs! (29lbs now including the leftover baby weight). It's so much more laid back here, not a whole lot of hussle and bussle.... Back in Cali I was ALWAYS on the go, between work, family, friends, party's, get-togethers, bonfires, beach trips, you flippin name it! Sigh.... I do miss California at times. Now my motivation stems from my husband. He is a fitness and health nut. His body looks good year round. (I'm not complaining, I'm just use to letting go around the holiday's... hahaha... And I'm not use to having someone else be the "pretty one" in the relationship, hahaha). He's going to help motivate me and he's already been working on keeping me in line food wise too. My own personal trainer. ;) hehehe. I'm still only 3 weeks postpartum so I cannot do a whole lot. Walking, legs and butt exercises that minimally use my tummy muscles is what I have been doing. I'm not allowed to lift and do tummy workouts just yet, but when I am I will be more than ready!
