Giveaway & Review: Dress from Lendperk!

We all know how netflix works right? Get a movie in the mail or straight your TV, send it back get another one. Welcome to Lendperk, where you can rent a designer dress, return it after you've worn it for that special occasion and rent another for the next one!!!

So many of my "dresses" sit in the closet after only a couple of wears.... Who wants to be seen in or in pictures from several events wearing the same thing again and again?  BLAH!

Or go out and spend $$$ on something that will probably only be worn once and then hung up in the cave to never see the light of day again...

Lendperk allows you to save $$$ AND look FABULOUS while being the gal who has a new outfit for all of those great gatherings!!
For as low as $20 a month (less than what I spend on wine) you can rent the dress of your choice, return it within 2 weeks and do so again the next month! If you don't rent one the next month you can rent 2 the following month!
A "DRESS ROLLOVER PLAN"!!! :)
Or, if you only want to do so once or twice, you can cancel your plan anytime!! They also have several that you can Rent and if you LOVE it too much to let it go, you can Buy it!
(View HERE)
I was given the opportunity to review a dress of my choice from Lendperk's Closet
This opportunity came at the PERFECT time! I was set to attend a Joint Luncheon for the Officer's Spouse Club on Lejeune, the theme was Spring, with the invite stating something about hats & gloves..... Ummmm... Great.... This t-shirt & jeans girl doesn't own "flowery" "Springy" attire. :-/

Then along came the offer to conduct a review AND host a giveaway for Lendperk! SAVED!!!

I picked their Closet Rainbow Floral Dress by Closet. PERFECT for the Spring themed luncheon! Now the problem was, it needed some sprusing up... Or so said my Marine "Sister", Author and fellow Marine Wife Kathleen Foley. I thought simple beige shoes with my off white sun hat would work just fine....
She, however, stated otherwise. Teal shoes, orange belt and a hat to go with. Well, as I went to "accessorize" (so weird saying that) I couldn't find the color shoes she said, so I did what any "non-fashionista" would do, I BLEW UP her phone with texts, pictures, and phone calls.
2 hours later, I headed home, exhausted wondering how this stuff comes naturally to other women!

Low and behold, the whole outfit turned out gorgeous!!! To the point that my nerves were calmed and I seriously considered keeping the dress and having them charge me for it!
Many compliments and questions on where I bought it. Boy were they shocked when I told them it was a rental from Lendperk! As they pulled out their smartphones and
began ooo'ing & aaahhh'ing at the choices!
There are so many outfits that could be made out of it!
Lendperk has found itself a new customer! Not only does the membership cover the rental, but it covers the shipments to and from you (they include the package for it to be returned) AND they take it to the cleaners so you don't have too!
(I HATE Laundry, big added bonus for me there!)
AND the fact that they continue to bring in new dresses to choose from is wonderful!!
Just because I can & I know my mom and girlfriends would be disappointed if there wasn't a picture of me sticking my tongue out at the camera... :P

We sent him this picture of my daughter and I holding a photograph (Feb 2011) from the day he deployed (March 2010). We now have 2 children, and my husband tells me it's going to be the hardest thing he'll have to do, deploying again and leaving his little ones behind. However, we've done it before and we sure will make it through again when the time comes. For now, we cherish the time we do get to spend together on a near-daily basis :)

Countdown 'Til Daddy Comes Home Review & Giveaway!!!

Book Trailer:

Review:
Countdown 'til Daddy Comes Home is one of the sweetest written and illistrated books for children who's daddy's travel or deploy for their jobs. The Author Kristin Ayyar, a fellow Military Wife, worded the book perfectly to hit both Civilian Children AND Military Kiddos!

Throughout the story the little boy expresses his desire to see his daddy, how he wishes he could have fit in his suitcase or the care package they send to him, and how much he misses him. I love how the little boy says and does many of the same things I have seen my own son go through during deployments, long trainings and the long distance relationship he has with his own father. The story shares the feelings that the little boy has as well as different ways that he and the family come together to make the time pass as quickly as possible.

The ideas that help him and the family stay connected with daddy while he is away are wonderful, a few of which I have done with my oldest and many new ideas that the baby, man-child and I will do together during the next deployment or long training exercise.

Going through deployments with children is tough, not only for the parent left stateside to run the home and family, but for the child/children who cannot always grasp the concept of not being able to see or talk to daddy as they normally would if he were coming home nightly. Countdown 'til Daddy Comes Home goes through an entire out of country business trip (deployment) of the little boy's daddy to his homecoming and the ways he, his older sister and mommy prepare for his arrival.

The end of the story has a section dedicated to discussion questions to cover with your child before & during a deployment as well as preparing for daddy's homecoming. A great way to help your kiddo through the deployment that he/she too is greatly affected by. The very end has different fun and sweet ideas on how you and your child/children can countdown together. I recently found out (yesterday) that the First Lady of the Marine Corps has established a recommended reading list for Wives as well as Children... I hope to see this book on there soon, it is definitely one that young military children can relate to and enjoy while daddy is away, and one that mommy's can use as a guide to help the children through it.
